Hiện nay, ngành làm được nhiều nhà ở xã hội là tốt, nhưng quan trọng hơn hết là phải có giải pháp hợp lý để người dân thực sự được thụ hưởng các sản phẩm nhà ở xã hội đó. Đây vẫn là chuyện khó khăn vì không chỉ người nghèo, người thu nhập thấp mà thực tế người có thu nhập trung bình, cán bộ công chức… nếu chỉ có lương, không làm thêm, không “tự xoay” thì việc mua một căn nhà nhỏ cũng không dễ dàng, đơn giản. Theo Phó Thủ tướng Vũ Văn Ninh, cần xây dựng chính sách căn bản và lâu dài để các đối tượng là người nghèo, diện chính sách… tiếp cận nhà ở xã hội dễ dàng hơn. Các chính sách cần mạnh mẽ hơn nữa để tạo điều kiện cho người dân có khả năng mua, thuê nhà ở xã hội để tiến đến “An cư lạc nghiệp”.
